Beard butter is relatively new on the market, so there isn’t that much choice, compared to beard oils and balms. That’s great though, because the guys getting into the market on beard butters are all established names, leaving less bad products out there. Plus when you grab yourself a tub of beard butter, you can have a warm feeling knowing that you’re ahead of the curve and treating your beard the best it can be treated.

- ABOUT OUR PRODUCT: Our Spirited Blend Beard Butter was formulated with Eucalyptus, Rosemary, and Juniper Berry for an invigorating “wake you up” experience. It also softens and conditions facial hair and moisturizes skin underneath. All day shine, style, and control.
- MOISTURIZE, STYLE & CONDITION: We use water soluble hydrating creme, rather than oil based, and succeeds in bringing moisture to the skin on your face and the hair on your chin. This hydrating cream Lays it Down every time and prevent the greasy feeling.
- COMPLETE YOUR BEARD GROWTH KIT: Combine our Beard Butter with Beard Wash, Beard Recovery, Beard Oil, and other products so you can grow to your full potential.
- PERFECT GIFT FOR MEN: Our product was made with natural ingredients and makes a perfect gift for your man. Made of environmentally friendly materials and makes it easy to take on the road, or just keep an extra kit wherever you are.
- HOW THE MAGIC HAPPENS: Since every Maestro is different the amount used will vary. After washing with Maestro’s Classic Beard Wash we recommend applying a nickel size amount of Maestro’s Classic Beard Butter to a damp or towel dried beard and working it in thoroughly. Reapply throughout the day as needed to groom your beard smooth.
Maestro’s beard butter is a little different from other butters. For a start, it’s not oil based, meaning it’s not a beard oil in a butter formula. Instead it’s individually formulated to be the best beard product possible.
Because of this, it’s a lot lighter on the face, sinks in quickly, and it’s completely water soluble meaning if you need to get it off your skin fast, you just need to wash your beard and it’s gone.
With rosemary and eucalyptus for skin health and hair growth, and shea and cocoa seed butter to moisturize and lock out dryness and beard dandruff, this butter will annihilate any skin issues you might have and leave your beard looking thick, lustrous and better than ever. It also smells strong, but nice. It’s very menthol, like cough drops, and I love that freshness. I even thought I could feel it on my face as soon as I applied it, making my skin tight, almost astringent.
You also get a huge amount for your money. About twice as much as you’d get with other brands, so when you pick this up it’s going to last forever.
Pros
- Great moisturizing effect
- Get a lot for your money
Cons
- Smell is distinctive

We love Wild Willie (easy there!) because all of their products are quality. Made from a great selection of home grown ingredients in the USA, all organic and all great for your beard, it’s nice knowing you can pick up any product out of their range and not have to worry about whether you’re getting something good or not.
As for this beard butter, it’s just as good as we expected. It’s really thick, but rubs into your beard well and just melts into the skin. Bear in mind too much butter will oversaturate your skin, causing excess to sit on top of your beard and make your face look oily, but you can wash it straight off and you’ll get used to how much to use in a couple of goes anyway.
It smells sexy, too. A pretty faint but distinctive hint of pine and tea tree that leaves you feeling fresh and clean. The best thing about it though is how quickly it deals with skin complaints and softens up your beard. If you like beard butters and want a thicker one that gives you great control and moisturizing, almost like a balm, you’re gonna want to grab a Willie.
Pros
- Fully organic
- Made in America
- 100% guarantee
Cons
- Using too much makes your beard look oily
Fresh Beards Freak Beard Butter Review
Self-proclaimed most trusted beard brand in America, Fresh Beards’ butter certainly doesn’t disappoint. The first thing I noticed when I’d covered my face with it was the smell. Citrus fresh. Now I’m a man who loves a lemon, so this is perfect for me. My girlfriend commented on it too, which was a change, especially considering she has a really sensitive nose.
It’s light and easy to apply, with shea butter, coconut, jojoba and avocado oils as the main ingredients. It left my face feeling fresh, but I’ve used a lot of products, and I think this butter isn’t quite as good at moisturizing as the top two. Don’t let that put you off though as it’s still a great butter that any man will get along with.
Pros
- Smells gloriously citrusy
- America’s most trusted brand
- Good value for money
Cons
- Contains nut products
Striking Viking Beard Butter General’s Blend Non-Greasy (Vanilla)
In-stock
Brand | Striking Viking |
Item Form | Cream |
Hair Type | All |
Product Benefits | Conditioning |
Features
- Use for ultra soft beard
- Moisturizes not only the beard but also your skin
- Ends the itchy beard
A brand we’re not familiar with here at Major Beard. That doesn’t happen often, but I have to say that this beard butter impressed me. Despite the simplicity of the packaging and formula, it left my face feeling incredibly smooth and silky, and my beard more moist, manageable and manly feeling.
The smell is light vanilla, with a vague moisturizer feeling rather than the usual essential oil smells, which can be a bonus if that’s not what you’re into, but even if you’d prefer unscented the scent faded fast, leaving my beard itch free and conditioned.
I have to mention the price, too. It’s so much cheaper than the other brands in our top list, so if you’re just getting into butters or go through it like anything and need to budget, this is a solid, respectable choice.
Pros
- Really good value for money
- Easy to spread and sinks in well
- Smells good
Cons
- None
The Best Scented Beard Butters
We all want to smell good, so grabbing a beard butter with a distinctive, manly smell makes that job much easier. After all, you’re going to be applying it every single day, so you can walk through the day with your head held high, knowing your beard smells fresh and masculine.

Hair Type | All |
Scent | Palo Santo |
Liquid Volume | 4 Fluid Ounces |
Item Form | Cream |
Features
- New, improved Mint Blend Scent.
- Scents Available: Cedar Forest & Wild Mint,
- Plant-based formula moisturizes and softens stubble, scruff and beards
- Styles and shapes longer beards
- Best for stubble, scruff and fuller beards
- Lightweight and non-greasy
Fresh and natural, Cremo Beard and Scruff Cream is a butter that’s light and easily absorbed, and leaves you with a clean, peppermint smell around your face for the whole day.
As a scent, it’s an unusual choice, but one I appreciate as it really does smell good. That hint of minty burn you get is fresh and clear, but it’s not strong enough to be a problem, especially since it’s a light enough scent to go with every aftershave I tried it with.
The cream itself sinks in well, rubbing into thick beards and absorbing easily into any type of hair, but it’s not the best beard conditioner I’ve found. My face still felt soft, and it killed any beard itch, but I have a particularly coarse beard and I felt it could have left my hairs smoother.
Pros
- 100% natural and USA made
- Smells manly without overpowering
Cons
- Not the best beard conditioner
