Brush Strokes Firm Military Style Boar Bristle Brush Review

Brush Strokes Firm Military Style Boar Bristle Brush Review

I’ve always had problems with both my beard and the hair on my head because it gets tangled up and can be impossible to brush. Not only that but I have always had problems with dry skin as well as beard dandruff too.

Due to my beard problems I’ve always been looking for a solution to help comb my beard and to help get rid of the flakes. That solution came in the form of the Brush Strokes Boar Bristle Brush.

At first, I didn’t think that a simple brush could help so much, but apparently it does, maybe it’s because of the awesome boar bristles! If you’ve been having similar problems to mine, you may want to consider this unique brush.

Things To Consider Before Buying A Beard Brush

Buying a good bristle brush was never on my list of things to get, but once I told one of my work buddies about my beard and hair problems he recommended one, specifically a boar bristle brush like this one.

Since I always had problems with brushing my hair and my beard, not to mention all of my hair is really dry, I figured that I would give the Brush Strokes Bristle Brush a try. My friend told me that the brush was ideal for beard hair because it helps with straightening it out and with spreading around the natural oils too.

The Boar Bristle Brush is ideal if you have a big thick beard or an average head of hair, plus it’s ideal if you are looking to fight against brittle and dry beard hair without using any oils, special shampoos, or lotions. As I have discovered this brush is meant primarily for men and more so for beards.

If you are a man with a big beard that needs grooming this might just be a product for you. If you don’t have a really big beard, we would recommend a simpler comb or brush as this one is meant for those really manly beards like mine.

There are a few different things you should consider before buying a brush, specifically if it’s for your beard. One of the things to consider is what material the brush is made of.

As is the case with the Boar Bristle Brush it is made of 100 percent boar bristles which have the ability to penetrate the skull and spread around natural oils to combat dryness.

Synthetic materials may be able to brush your head or beard hair, but it they won’t do a good job at combating brittle and dry hair. Another thing to consider is how long your own beard is and depending on the length of it you will want a brush with either longer or shorter bristles.

You should also consider what the brush body is made of. Something like a wood body is ideal because it will be hard to damage and won’t absorb water either, plus it helps reduce static and frizzy hair too.

Features

  • Natural boar bristles penetrate the scalp to distribute natural oils
  • Bristles penetrate hair with ease
  • Natural wooden body

The product that I chose to get rid of my beard problems once and for all is the Brush Strokes Boar Bristle Brush and I think that it’s probably the best choice out there.

It’s a great wooden military style brush, I’m not too sure what makes it military style, but that’s OK because as far as I’m concerned the military is a good thing. I really like the fact that it’s made of all natural materials instead of synthetics, especially boar bristles because they are quite rough and do a good job of brushing my tangled beard.

Plus the boar bristles really help to spread around my natural oils that the skin produces to make my whole beard less dry and less brittle. I was told that boar bristle brushes may have a slight scent to them, but as far as I can tell this brush does not have any unappealing smell.

This brush is much better than any synthetic brush you could find, not to mention that it has a lot more natural boar bristles than its predecessor, making it one of the best brushes that I’ve discovered so far.

If you have a frizzy, dry, and brittle beard you may want to consider investing in the Brush Strokes Boar Bristle Brush.

We Like

  • Contains all natural 100 percent Boar Bristles.
  • Helps to reduce static and frizzy hair.
  • This brush is great for brushing beard hair.
  • Helps to spread around natural oils and reduce dryness.
  • Has a wooden body that is built to last a lifetime.
  • Helps to remove dirt and debris with ease.
  • No unappealing boar smell.

We Don’t Like

  • Heavy and large meaning it’s not versatile.
  • Not ideal for men without beards.
  • Has trouble with very coarse and curly hair.

Features And Benefits

One of the things that is really fantastic about the Boar Bristle Brush is the fact that the body is made out of 100 percent wood that has been treated to be water resistant and free of static.

I think that is great because making things of wood is much better for the environment than using rubber or plastic.

It’s also really great that the Boar Brush is water proof because it means I can use it when my beard is wet, and I can even use it in the shower too.

Another really great feature about this brush is of course that it used only 100 percent natural boar bristles.

The boar bristles are also great for me because they are very rough and hard, meaning that they work really well for brushing out my really coarse and curly beard.

This brush works much better for me than other brushes that have soft bristles because they just can’t penetrate my beard to pull it apart and straighten it out.

Of course the boar bristles are also fantastic because they are hollow and can retain moisture, meaning that they are ideal for transferring moisture and natural oil from your scalp and face to the hair itself.

I find that this has helped a lot in terms of taming my beard and making it more naturally moisturized.

Another reason I really like the Boar Bristle Brush is because the bristles naturally remove the dust and dirt that I couldn’t remove with anything else. I hate having a dirty beard so I’m really happy that I discovered this brush.

Alternatives

While I think that the Boar Bristle Brush is really good, there are a few other alternatives which I would recommend checking out. Look at these 3 products listed below because I think that you might just like them.

This beard comb costs about a quarter as much as the boar bristle brush so that definitely makes it attractive, but on the other hand it also doesn’t have boar bristles.

The Kent Comb is waterproof and doesn’t really pick up static.

This is a nifty tool if you have a short or medium length beard so I’d recommend taking a look at it.

Brush Strokes Military Style Vs. The Kent Comb
  • The Brush Strokes Military Style will last longer than the comb due to its rugged design.
  • The Brush Strokes Military Style moves around natural oils unlike the comb.

Another alternative I would recommend looking at if you aren’t too sure about the Brush Strokes is the Beard Brush for Men Boar Bristle Brush.

This brush, AKA The Zerian is a wooden beard brush that is ideal for medium and long beards.

The boar bristles lets it penetrate through thick hair right down to the skin to get rid of flakes, exfoliate the skin, and reduce itchiness.

Brush Strokes Military Style vs The Zerian
  • The Zerian has a higher amount of boar bristle so it might just be more effective than the Brush Strokes.
  • The Zerian is slightly cheaper than the Brush Strokes.
  • The Zerian is a little smaller and easier to carry around.
  • The Brush Strokes Military Style has a more solid construction than the Zerian.
  • The Brush Strokes Military Style is meant for all lengths of hair while The Zerian is not.
  • The Brush Strokes Military Style can be used for beard and head hair unlike The Zerian.

The GranNaturals is another alternative that you might want to consider.

It has a good combination of nylon and boar bristles which help to spread around oil and it helps to stimulate the scalp too.

Brush Strokes Military Style Vs. The GranNaturals
  • The GranNaturals contains less boar bristles than the Brush Strokes.
  • The GranNaturals is better for head hair than for beard hair.
  • The GranNaturals helps stimulate blood blow in the scalp.
  • The Brush Strokes Military Style is Slightly Cheaper.
  • The Brush Strokes Military Style has a more solid built.
  • The Brush Strokes Military Style is completely made of wood.

This is the only set we’ve included that has a badger brush instead of a boar brush.

Conclusion

Dry and frizzy beard hair is no good because it gets tangled up, it breaks off, and it just doesn’t look good.

I always hated the way I had looked before I found the right beard brush. The Brush Strokes is by far my favorite beard brush that I’ve come across so far because it helps to keep my beard manicured and helps reduce frizz and dryness.

I find that this brush really helps spread around my natural oils to keep my beard hydrated.

It’s nice because it stops it from breaking and helps to keep it straight and untangled.
